Davido Explains Why He Didn’t Pay Tribute to Late Son in New Album ‘Timeless’
During a press conference held on Monday ahead of his upcoming ‘Timeless’ concert in Lagos, Nigerian Afrobeats artist Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, shared his reasons for not including a tribute to his late son Ifeanyi Adeleke in his new album. Contrary to the expectations of some of his fans, Davido chose to prioritize entertainment value over emotional depth in his latest release.
Explaining his decision, Davido stated that his aim was to create a timeless album with a classic feel, without including any songs that would stir up strong emotions among his audience in relation to the loss of his son. He emphasized his preference for happy, upbeat music, and suggested that any future projects focused on sadder themes would be separate from this album. As Davido noted, his long-time fans can attest to his generally cheerful and positive musical style.
