The Deputy Minister of Finance Hon. John Kumah has warned business owners against the rejection of MOMO as a payment option because of the implementation of the E-Levy in Ghana.
.
According to the minister, rejecting any form of online payment system is a criminal offense.
This follows a complaint by the public that some businesses are refusing momo payment over fears of getting taxed when withdrawing the money.
.
Radio show host, Adakabre Frimpong Manso who had a similar experience complained when the fuel station he purchased fuel from refused to accept MOMO as payment.
.
This according to the radio show host happened in Ejisu where the Minister happens to be the MP for the area.
.
Reacting to the complaint in an interview with the radio show host, the Deputy Finance Minister warned these businesses that the earlier they accept to live by the E-levy, the better because it’s criminal to refuse to sell a product or service to someone just because the person wants to pay via mobile money.
