SammyFlex Cautions Black Sherif over VGMA Artist of The Year “Curse”

Broadcaster Sammy Flex Cautions Over VGMA Artist of the Year Curse: Encourages Breaking the Jinx

In the aftermath of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), where Black Sherif was crowned the Artist of the Year, broadcaster Samuel Atuobi Baah, popularly known as Sammy Flex, has issued a word of caution regarding the infamous VGMA Artist of the Year “curse”. The “curse”, which has plagued several past winners, either diminishes their relevance the following year or prevents them from winning the prestigious award again.(I.e Back to Back)

Sammy Flex, in an editorial on his YouTube channel, Sammyflex TV, acknowledged the significance and honor that comes with winning the VGMA Artist of the Year title. However, he stressed the need for the latest recipient, Black Sherif, to be aware of the challenges that lie ahead and encouraged him to defy the odds and break the jinx associated with the award.

The VGMA Artist of the Year “curse” has been a topic of discussion and concern within the Ghanaian music industry for years. Previous winners such as Kwaw Kese, VIP, Ofori Amponsah, and others have allegedly experienced a decline in their careers following their victory, struggling to maintain their popularity or achieve the same level of success. Some have even gone years without winning the award again, leading to speculation about the supposed curse’s existence.

Sammy Flex’s cautionary message comes as a reminder that the Artist of the Year award, though a significant achievement, should not be seen as the pinnacle of an artist’s career. He emphasized the importance of hard work, consistency, and innovation in order to sustain relevance and success in the music industry.

Also, the broadcaster encouraged Black Sherif to use his newfound recognition and platform to elevate his craft, expand his fan base, and explore new opportunities.

It remains to be seen how Black Sherif will navigate the challenges and expectations that come with being the VGMA Artist of the Year. However, with the caution and encouragement from Sammy Flex, the young and talented artist has been given valuable advice on how to avoid the pitfalls that have befallen past winners.

The VGMA Artist of the Year supposed “curse” may linger in the minds of many, but it is up to the artists themselves to prove that it is nothing more than a superstition. With dedication, resilience, and a commitment to growth, Black Sherif has the opportunity to break the jinx and solidify his position as one of Ghana’s most promising musical talents.
