The Ghana Table Tennis Association organized a table tennis clinic for U-15 and U-19 players on Saturday, May 4, 2026, in preparation for the Africa Youth Championships.
The clinic’s goal was to establish a solid foundation for the youth team ahead of the ITTF-Africa Hopes Week and ITTF-Africa Youth Cup, scheduled for July 13-18, 2026, and July 28-29, 2026, respectively.
The clinic featured an all-play-all tryout, highlighting top performers Bright Bortieh Bortei, Israel Aklie, and Emmanuel Akutey Azu in the boys’ U-15 category, and Joanita Borteye, Jessica Droh, and Sheila Akolgo in the girls’ U-15 category.
In the U-19 category, notable performers included Michael Yeboah, Michael Agyapong Mensah, and Jonathan Quortey in the boys’ section, and Blessing Labanti, Joy Dumas Abaidoo, and Vivian Adjome Afua in the girls’ section.
Ghana Table Tennis’ technical director, Mr. Takyi Menson, stated that the association would make the best selection for Ghana, commending Mr. Mawuko Afadzano, the president of the Ghana Table Tennis Association, for his outstanding leadership.
Mr. Menson also appealed for corporate support, citing the high cost of venue rental ahead of the ITTF Africa Youth Championships.
