You are not doing artists a favor when you sign them,it’s business- Mr . Drew fires again

Mr. Drew wants to debunk the notion that artiste managers and record label owners are doing artists a favor by signing them. He believes that it’s a partnership where both parties benefit when profits are generated.

During an exclusive conversation with Talkertainment host Elsie Lamar on GhanaWeb TV, the popular Ghanaian singer, known for his hit song ‘This Year,’ expressed his views. He emphasized that being signed to a label is not about receiving a platform or an opportunity; it’s about work. When money starts flowing in, the label takes its share, which is a fair exchange.

Recently, Mr. Drew made headlines on social media due to his unexpected departure from the Highly Spiritual record label after a five-year period. The label’s founder, Kaywa, has subtly criticized Mr. Drew on social media after the artiste chose not to renew his contract, which expired in late 2022.

This incident has sparked discussions about artists leaving their record labels once they have established themselves and gained success in the industry. It’s worth noting that Mr. Drew rose to fame as the first runner-up on MT Hitmaker Season 6 in 2017, following which he signed with Highly Spiritual Music, founded by the renowned music producer and engineer, Kaywa.
